Regeneration of the Electric Parking Brake Mechanism (EMF/EPB) in BMW Systems
The regeneration of the electric parking brake (EMF – Electro-Mechanical Parking Brake, also known as EPB) used in BMW vehicles involves a comprehensive repair of the mechanism, including the replacement of all worn or damaged components—excluding the cables, which are available at an additional cost.
Upon completion of the regeneration process, each mechanism undergoes thorough testing on a custom-built diagnostic bench. This device performs 30 full cycles of engagement and release, simulating real-world operation as it occurs in the vehicle. During testing, data is collected via the CAN bus and used to generate detailed voltage and force graphs.
The test results, along with a warranty certificate, are printed and provided to the customer as confirmation of service quality. Importantly, the regenerated mechanism does not require any additional coding or programming and is ready for installation.
