International Transport Planner

As our operations expand, we are looking for an International Transport Planner to join our Operations team. You will help turn customer orders into well-organised transport plans, making effective use of our fleet and transport partners while keeping service quality, costs, and profitability in focus. Your Responsibilities - Plan and coordinate international transport orders, matching customer requirements with available trucks, trailers, drivers, and transport partners. - Organise routes, loading and delivery schedules, and vehicle positioning to maximise fleet utilisation and minimise empty kilometres and unnecessary costs. - Work closely with dispatchers and drivers to ensure transport plans are practical, clearly communicated, and completed on time. - Account for driving and rest time requirements, vehicle availability, customer time slots, and ferry schedules when planning transport. - Monitor transport progress, anticipate delays, and adjust plans to resolve operational problems. - Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to confirm requirements, communicate updates, and manage schedule changes. - Source additional transport capacity when required, obtain rates, and maintain strong relationships with transport partners. - Prepare transport cost calculations and quotations, considering route costs, capacity, and target margins. - Keep transport orders and operational records accurate and up to date, supporting documentation, reporting, and invoicing. - Identify opportunities to improve planning, reduce costs, and strengthen operational performance. Our Requirements - Good command of spoken and written English, allowing confident communication in an international working environment. - Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several transport orders and changing priorities simultaneously. - A responsible, proactive approach, with attention to detail and ownership of tasks from start to finish. - Confidence working with numbers, comparing costs, and using data to make practical decisions. - Clear communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, drivers, customers, and transport partners. - Ability to stay calm under pressure, solve problems, and adapt to a fast-paced operational environment. - Good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, and a willingness to learn transport management systems. - A team-oriented attitude and flexibility to respond to operational issues and schedule changes. - Previous experience in transport planning, dispatching, freight forwarding, or logistics will be considered an advantage.
