Weiqi — The pursuit of Life, Liberty, Connection, Influence, and Territory. Each player seeks to discover the strategy and tactics necessary to acquire the most territory. Ideally each play has multiple aims to threaten and/or succeed to create, destroy, expand, and/or reduce Life, Liberty, Connection, Influence, and/or Territory. **THE ART OF WEIQI** — Finding the strategical and tactical maneuvers that equally divide a section of the grid with respect to the whole grid via the principles of war. **OBJECTIVE** — To help Weiqi players: 1) Learn the basic language and elements of Weiqi; 2) Understand what is happening on the Weiqi grid; 3) Develop their Weiqi analytical reading ability.

The purpose of this book is to help a Weiqi player accomplish the above objectives by studying and learning Weiqi in culture. The four arts in China are Weiqi, Harp, Calligraphy, Painting.

To Cultivate Sentiment: Weiqi is just like one's life. There are always ups and downs in a game of Weiqi and it is almost never a monotonous game. To Develop of Wisdom: Playing Weiqi is not only a way to improve one's calculating ability. More importantly, it helps one to develop the wisdom of determining different degrees of urgency.
