Opis projektanta:
A shelf unit typically consists of two fixed verticals and a series of horizontals. Planophore breaks this convention by introducing movement and flexibility. Depending on their orientation, rotating vertical aluminium blades frame compartments to hold books or objects, create backdrops for display or transform an entire unit into a room divider. The blades are deliberately offset to provide structural strength and stability, this slight asymmetry introducing a playful aspect to the arrangement of the panels. While the design appears simple, the movement of these blades presented significant technical challenges. The rounded lower edge detail of the solid wood shelves is reminiscent of aircraft wings and gives the design its name: the original Planophore made its debut in 1871, as the first stable model aeroplane powered by twisted rubber bands. Planophore stands on a powder-coated tubular steel base, with a textured finish.
