Bypass TAP: Jest bardzo ważnym narzędziem pozwalającym na włączenie aktywnego urządzenia IT security w trybie in-line w krytycznym łączu, bez wprowadzania dodatkowego punktu awarii.

Urządzenia typu next-gen firewall (NGFW) lub IPS wymagają aktywne połączenia „in-line”, aby spełniać swoja funkcję. TAP typu Bypass umożliwia takie podłączenie, zabezpieczając jednocześnie przed awarią sieci, spowodowaną uszkodzeniem jednego z w/w urządzeń lub potrzebą serwisu, up-date’u lub ich naprawy.

TAP typu bypass wyposażony w funkcję failsafe zabezpiecza sieć przed skutkami awarii urządzenia typu „in-line”. Mechanizm działania jest następujący. TAP generuje pakiet testowy, który jest wysyłany do urządzenia „in-line”. Tak długo jak to urządzenie działa poprawnie, pakiet testowy jest odsyłany do TAP’a. TAP usuwa pakiet testowy przed dalszym przekierowaniem ruchu sieci. W przypadku awarii TAP’a lub urządzenia „in-line” funkcja failsafe powoduje „odcięcie” urządzenia „in-line” i ruch sieciowy przechodzi bezpośrednio przez TAP’a.

Silicom’s Quad Port fiber Gigabit Ethernet Express Bypass server adapter is a PCI-Express X4 network interface card that contains four Gigabit Ethernet ports on a PCI-E adapter.

The Silicom’s Quad Port fiber Gigabit Ethernet Express Bypass server adapter is targeted to inline network system that maintains network connectivity when system fails.

Silicom’s Quad Port Fiber Gigabit Ethernet Express Bypass server adapter supports Normal, Bypass and Disconnect modes. In Normal mode, the ports are independent interfaces. In Bypass mode, all packets received from one port are transmitted to the adjacent port. In Disconnect mode, the adapter simulates switch / route cable disconnection.

The adapter’s software drivers, WDT controller and the Bypass circuitry provide an interface that control and manage the mode of the adapter.

Silicom’s Quad Port Fiber Gigabit Ethernet Express Bypass server adapter can Bypass or Disconnect its Ethernet ports on a host system failure, power off, or upon software request. In Bypass mode, the connections of the Ethernet ports are disconnected from the system and switched over to the other port to create a crossed connection loop-back between the Ethernet ports.

Hence, in bypass mode all packets received from one port are transmitted to the adjacent port and vice versa. This feature enables to bypass a failed system and provides maximum up time for the network. In Disconnect mode, the adapter simulates switch / router cable disconnection. In Disconnect mode, the switch / router does not detect link partner of the adapter.

Silicom’s Quad Port Copper Gigabit Ethernet Cloud Computing PCI Express Bypass server adapter is a PCI-Express X4 network interface card that contains four ports on a PCI-E adapter.

Silicom’s Quad Port Gigabit Ethernet Cloud Computing Bypass server adapter supports Normal, Disconnect and Bypass modes. In Normal mode, the ports are independent interfaces.

The adapter’s software drivers, WDT controller and the Bypass circuitry provide an interface that control and manage the mode of the adapter. Silicom’s Quad Port Copper Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express Bypass server adapters are based on Intel 82580EB Ethernet controller.
